FESTAS launches an optional social experience around the same events
The iOS and Android update lets people show interest publicly or privately, discover profiles and talk after a reciprocal connection

FESTAS, a Brazilian event discovery platform with nationwide coverage, has launched an optional social experience around parties, concerts and festivals in its iOS and Android apps. The update lets people show interest in an event, discover profiles that chose to appear and start a conversation after a reciprocal connection.
The feature was released on both app stores on July 28. It complements discovery by city, date, music genre, artist and venue without requiring users to make their profile public in order to browse, save events or use the app’s other tools.
Public or private interest
When activating the social experience, each person chooses whether to appear publicly in event lists or keep their interest private. This choice can be changed in settings. With the private option, the interest does not expose the profile to other people.
A profile can include a photo, bio, age range, city, music genres, social links and a wall of events of interest. What appears depends on the information provided and the visibility controls selected by the user. The social profile can also be hidden reversibly.
A connection before a conversation
Visible profiles can follow each other. Direct conversation inside FESTAS becomes available when the connection is reciprocal. The Social area brings followers, followed profiles and conversations together, while blocking and reporting remain available from profile and message flows.
“Discovering an event solves only one part of the decision. There is still a path between becoming interested, remembering the date, making plans with friends and deciding to participate. FESTAS was built to support that journey. The social layer adds context without making exposure mandatory,” says Leo, creator of FESTAS.
A layer built on event discovery
The social experience works alongside Pra Mim, shared lists, favorites and reminders. Each feature serves a different purpose: recommendations organize suggestions, lists help friends discuss options and profiles add human context when a person chooses to use that layer.
In this release, personalized discovery and the choice to appear to other people remain separate experiences. Social visibility is not required to receive suggestions or use the other discovery tools.
Availability and controls
The social experience is intended for people aged 18 and over and requires acceptance of its terms and community rules. The app is available for free on the App Store and Google Play.
